Ukraine: Germany Takes in over 1 Million Refugees From the War

Germany has taken in over 1 million refugees from Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion in February, according to the German interior ministry. And while a portion of those have traveled on to other European countries or returned home, the influx is still at about 800 a day. 

From February 24 to August 21, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated about 45,200 Russian invaders. In particular, the Ukrainian troops destroyed:

  • 1,912 (+5 over past day) Russian tanks
  • 4,224 (+12) armored personnel vehicles
  • 1,028 (+10) artillery systems
  • 266 MLRS
  • 141 anti-aircraft systems
  • 234 aircraft
  • 197 helicopters
  • 806 (+3) operational-tactical UAVs
  • 190 cruise missiles
  •  15 warships/boats
  • 3,143 (+6) vehicles and fuel tanks
  • 99 (+2) special equipment units
