Judge throws out 6 counts of Trump’s Georgia election interference indictment

A Fulton County judge dismissed multiple counts from the election interference indictment against former President Donald Trump and some co-defendants, focusing on Solicitation of Violation of Oath by a Public Officer. Of the 13 counts Trump faced, three were dropped, leaving him with 10.

Judge McAfee agreed with the defendants’ argument that the counts lacked sufficient detail to prepare their defenses.

The ruling quashed counts against Giuliani, Meadows, Eastman, and others. Giuliani now faces 10 counts, while Meadows faces one. The district attorney’s office declined to comment.

Trump and 18 others pleaded not guilty to charges related to efforts to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results.
